Keeping
our neighborhoods safe
As a husband
and father, keeping our neighborhoods safe will always
be my number one priority. My experience as a first
responder has given me a deep understanding of the
challenges and needs of our public safety personnel.
I am committed to investing in public safety and providing
them with the tools to work more efficiently.
As your
Councilmember, I will support increasing our public
safety ranks while maintaining the veterans who have
faithfully served our community. I will lean on my
strong relationships with local fire, police, and
medical services personnel to find practical solutions
to reduce emergency response times.
City government's
primary role is to ensure its residents' safety. I
take this responsibility seriously and will work tirelessly
to make our streets safe and secure. Your safety is
not just a priority; it's my unwavering commitment.
Tackling
our statewide homeless crisis locally
Merced,
like every other community in California, is dealing
with the challenges of a statewide homeless epidemic.
We must continue to explore solutions to this crisis
while addressing the root causes. While our unhoused
deserve our compassion, their needs do not take priority
over Merced residents who work, live, and learn in
our community.
Homelessness
is not just a housing issue but also a health and
public safety matter; we need an all-hands-on-deck
approach to tackle every facet of this problem. As
a former County EMS director, I know firsthand that
multi-agency coordination is crucial. Without it,
we will duplicate efforts and waste resources.
As your
Councilmember, I will work with all levels of government
to ensure we have optimal support and confront challenges
regionally. I will also facilitate robust public-private
partnerships with community stakeholders and nonprofits
while investing in mental health and drug rehabilitation
programs.
It is uncaring
to ignore the plight of the unhoused in our community.
To solve this statewide homeless crisis locally, we
must all do our part in providing the much-needed
safety net for those who fall on hard times while
giving them the tools to get back on their feet.
Attracting
better paying jobs for working families
As someone
who has worked in the public and private sectors,
I understand the challenges confronting our local
economy.
We can
unlock Merced's economic potential by marketing our
unique strengths to attract better-paying jobs and
partnering with local educational institutions to
provide residents with the skills to obtain these
jobs.
My commitment
remains steadfast in simplifying bureaucratic procedures,
ensuring that our local government will facilitate
progress rather than obstruct it.
Holding
local government accountable
As a Merced
City Tax Transparency Commissioner, I have had the
honor of holding our city government accountable on
behalf of Merced residents.
I will
always remember that the resources that fund the City
of Merced are your tax dollars, which you entrust
to the city government to be spent wisely and responsibly.
My commitment
to prioritizing transparency and accountability is
unwavering. Every decision I make is based on what
is most beneficial to Merced residents, not special
interests. |
